Brothers

My eleven year old attended his first 'sleep over' party last night. Little one cried the entire time it took for us to drive his big brother to the party. I looked in the car rear vision mirror and my big boy was holding the little ones hand to comfort him. There was a heartbreaking farewell scene at the car window, with kisses and cuddles. The tears continued all the way home. "Every time I think of him, the tears come into my eyes". Junk food, a movie and a camp bed in Mum and Dad's room sort of helped but the tears came again this morning. Oh dear! How do I cure this? It's only going to get harder. There is a five year age gap! Just wait until big one is driving to friends places and little one is 12 years old, stuck at home with us!

Happy Sunday! We're off to pick up our big brother.... and counting!

  1. That is the sweetest story... brings tears to my eyes.
How did your big boy do at the sleep over? I remember wanting to go to them, and then immediately being homesick for home and my parents the second I got there!

  3. Oh no! Poor little one. Lovely that he missed his brother so much though. I guess you hope that one day he'll enjoy the extra attention and time alone with you so much that he doesn't notice.

  8. Oh, so cute! The big one sounds sounds truly precious...most 'big ones' I know would probably push him over, and run off laughing! Your boys sound so lovely!

  9. That's just so sweet. You don't often hear about children in those ages being so good to one another.

I love what you've done to your home, it's beautiful inside and out.

Have a good weekend and take care of your sweet boys!

  11. So precious, please write all these lovely (and the not so lovely) things down in a book for them to enjoy when they are men.
I just think they are such sweet little people and will make amazing husbands one day!

  12. There is a 4 year gap between my girls and they were extremely close while growing up. I really hoped that love would remain that way as adults, so that they'd have a close and trusted friend for life. I'm so happy that now that they are both adults they are indeed close friends. It sounds as though you will be similarly blessed. You've got a couple of little poppets there. :)

  14. That is so sweet. I am currently debating whether to have a second child, but having had the exact opposite experience with my own sibling (who would try to beat me up daily!), I'm a little scared if I don't get what you've got! Ha--I wish you could know what you were in for ahead of time. Your kids are adorable.
