We are now officially completely homeless and here I sit doing a blog post, NOT looking for somewhere for my family to live... ahhh priorities... bloggy first.
We are in total panic mode now. We managed to get out of the lease we signed, due to the discrepancies between the real estate agent's condition report and ours... which is a great relief, considering the non disclosed 'cat habitant' and 'whatever lives in the carpet thing'...... and my son's streaming eyes and gasping breaths... but that now makes us completely homeless ...unless I find something absolutely pronto. We did have a beautiful brand new rental lined up, months back, that we had to let go as the new owners extended the sales contract... so we have gone from pillar to post over the past few months. Coming? Going? I don't know. My big boy keeps saying, "things are never as bad they seem Mum"... ooh where did your wisdom come from son? Added to the fact, I spent a day in the local emergency dep't this week, due to my lungs.... wanted to keep me in overnight.... but I had to pick the boys up from school (hubby away)... that would have been nice.. a night at the Mater Hilton, meals included.
I must admit I am struggling with everything.... health, exhaustion, one car broken down (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT... like a bad movie) but I have my lads to help so we'll get there. You've gotta laugh... life does change on a dime... doesn't it.
Will let you know how I go with the debacle that is our life at present!
A-M xx
PS. Thanks again Home Beautiful - you've made my day.

Oh A-M, you really are in a state aren't you? Isn't this how you were about this time last year (at least scrambling to get things done on the house and feeling desperately unwell)? You're lungs need to give you a break.
ReplyDeleteGood news on your rental lease. You just couldn't stay there. I always believe that when you think you're in your most desperate hour, something will come along and completely save the day. Have no fear A-M.
XO, Andrea
Oh my goodness. My car recently broke down too and I was on the side of the road with my 3 kids..lucky my sister was there too to keep a lid on the situation!! Good luck finding your rental and maybe even a house to buy!?!?! They say the Brisbane property market is slowing so you may get a bargain soon!
ReplyDeleteAni
A-M...do you not have any family or friends that could help you out collecting the children from school? Now is the time to call in all favours to help you over this rough patch..what are friends for? sending you positive energy that a nice rental will come your way. Am curious to know why you're moving, but I guess some things must remain private in blogland!
ReplyDeletehope ur feeling better soon.**Helen
I'm sure that there will be many more posts like this..Anne-Marie you are an inspiration of energy, creativity and problem-solving, you indomitable spirit will no doubt carry you through this 'slushy' part of your life very soon. I hope that the door that has closed [on the gruesome rental] allows a fabulous, clean and light-filled space to come your way quickly. Best wishes, Felicity
ReplyDeleteOh no. The lung problems just top it off, doesn't it? When we moved to our house - we had a comedy of errors which kind of put a dampener on things. The car being stolen at Bunnings was the sealer though. I look back and think phew! It's a wonder you don't lose your mind when things are so stressful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news amongst the chaos !
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about a lovely new apartment to rent. I know on the Gold Coast there are some gorgeous spacious new apartments that in some cases are cheaper than a old smelly rental house. Maybe its the same in Brisbane , it might be nice for a change , get one with a lovely view & no yard to look after.Be able to put your feet up
& take a little time out to recharge after a couple of huge months !
Take care of yourself 'first' A-M ,the 3 boys need you.
Karyn x
Oh A-M, my heart goes out to you! At least you managed to get out of that revolting rental. I know of a great house for rent, with wonderful relaxed owners, but the problem is it's a long way from your boys' school, and I'm guessing you don't want to add lots of driving to your already stressful days. Fingers crossed you find something lovely pronto! K xx
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing. We came home from a weekend away to find out on Monday morning that our rental is being sold. We are in final stages of house plans and hope to start building soon and am dreading the thought of having to find another short term lease, with three kids and a dog in tow, if the house isn't finished.
ReplyDeleteRemember what they say, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" things will get better I'm sure.
Mekaela
Is there someone you can call upon at this difficult time, grandparents or other family perhaps? You really need a rest A-M and I am worried about you.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the school community, isn't it supposed to be a caring one? Several times when our boys were at school the call came out that a family needed help and things were organised such as child pick up/minding, cooking meals etc. But of course you have to TELL THEM you need help! I just wish I were closer. Pamela xxx
Oh A-M you have to take care of yourself!!! Your health is priority #1.
ReplyDeleteIt’s amazing how you are able /not able to cope.
Can I help somehow?

I've been a little worried about you moving into that MBR so that's one positive. You are having a tough time, aren't you? All you can do is prioritise and take one step at a time (not so easy when you're homeless..) Hire in help if you can/need to. Isn't there some kind of executive home finding service or something? Take care of yourself..Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteok - health is the most important thing, and your family of course! can you rent a 2 bedroom serviced apartment or simialr for tow weeks or so to remove the intensity of the situation? that way you would have somewhere nice to ceoncentrate on your helath and you could sort of pretend you were on holiday.....boys would love it I'm sure. just a suggestion but take care of you otherwise everything else will crumble. mothers are the centre of the universe when it comes to families and you need to saty and get back to good helath. hope I am not too bossy......... KG
ReplyDeletePS Sitting in macdonalds on wi fi drinking coffee wating for the car to be serviced........!!!!!
Oh A-M, I do feel for you (and your boys). I just wish I was a wealthy gal who owned a (nice/clean) house in Brissie and I could say to you 'here, have it for as long as you need it'. Alas, I don't, but I just know in my heart that you will find something ideal for you and your family. Thinking of you, Lee :)
ReplyDeleteIf only we had crystal balls to warn of approaching chaos.
ReplyDeleteA-M did you receive my email? Have just forwarded some new info for you.
Crappy lungs are hard to cope with :(
Anne-Marie x
Blogland is very kind, helpful and supportive. I hope you are feeling better soon and that a nice clean rental comes your way. Best of health!
ReplyDeleteJust when you think that you have it bad, there is someone who's situation is worse off than yours. I hope that things work out in your favor. I'll keep you in my prayers. and you take care of yourself
ReplyDeleteYour poor thing A-M! I am impressed that you are holding it together so well! I pray that everything falls into place for you and that you get better quickly and completely! xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that little bit of sunshine this morning - it does seem that when it rains it pours - I'm sure your luck will turn around soon!
ReplyDeleteHi A-M, I'll be praying that the right rental place comes along asap! And that your lungs get better.
ReplyDeleteJxx
Gosh, I'm so sorry all this is piling up and you feel bad!! I'm am glad you got to get out of your lease though! Will keep you and your family in my prayers, everything has to work out!
ReplyDeleteSending you a BIG hug A-M! What a week you have had... so sorry. Sending hugs and prayers that everything turns around and a fabulous rental presents itself.
ReplyDeleteOn a happy note.... OMG, your house looks gorgeous! I loved seeing it on the glossy pages!
Take good care, and hugs to the boys too!
joan
please please please please think of yourself and your health . Nothing is more important than our health . I am worried about you . Having been there , done that (after renovating and moving ended up with shingles and the rest ) ....and with a sister who has a chronic lung condition ..i feel like i can feel your pain. Believe me ..it costs alot more in the long run if you dont get some help now. Our bodies have a funny (or should i say annoying) way of taking control when we need a break. Book in to a 2 bedroom apartment for a week till you (and now it sounds like hubby ) get better. You are an amazing woman ..(i am addicted to your blog and beautiful style ). You will definanlty find another rental, and you will renovate another beautiful house ....You just need to get better ! Sorry if i sound bossy xxxx ..
ReplyDeleteIt's so true AM - life really does swing from one side to another in a minute. Crossing fingers that it all starts to resolve itself very soon. Take care of yourself :)
ReplyDeleteHey honey, hang in there babe, it will get better. I'm pleased you got out of the lease, though being homeless is not fab at all. Sending positive thoughts your way for a great place to just appear for you and the family.
ReplyDeletexxx & hugs DJ
Oh sweet A-M, life can be a b---h sometimes.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had similar problems with renting. So hard to find anything decent. Finally found one just in time that was actually vacant at the right time (always so hard to co-ordinate) and we help move them this weekend. Working full time with a 2 and half yo as well as being 14 weeks pregnant with her 2nd baby she could have done with out the stress.
As your lovely Big Boy says 'things are never as bad they seem'. Hope things improve re the housing situation so as then you can start looking after yourself and get healthy again
Alison
Hi AM - I have been reading your blog on and off for the past six months and love your positive outlook on life. I know you may not see it now be nothing is ever thrown at you that you cant handle. You will get through this, there is a solution, just keep breathing and try and keep smiling.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you.

Sending positive emanations to you to find a decent rental for some respite - you have a lot of people gunning for you! hope you find something immediately to give you a breather, literally.
ReplyDeleteI know it feels like life has pulled the proverbial rug from under you at the moment sweet girl, but remember, there's a lot of luuuuurve out there in Bloggieland for you. Chuck yourselves into a serviced apartment for a couple of weeks, rest, recharge & regroup. Now's not the time for that stiff upper lip rubbish - ask for help, people will consider it a privilege to respond.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Congratulation on being the house of the month, very well deserved and the photos are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI promise you that in a few months time you will laugh and wonder what all the fuss was about. You just need to take a few deep breaths and tell yourself that it is all going to be fine or "keep calm and carry on".
Sending you lots of postive thoughts from SW France, Leeann x
sending you love & happy thoughts...
ReplyDeletekatie
2 words = serviced apartment
ReplyDeleteSomewhere nice like Kangaroo Point, river & city views, someone to clean the apartment and only for a short while.
Good luck!
Anna
Oooh feeling much better tonight, thanks to all your loving comments... and 4 intense days of prednisone! I think you are onto something girls... we are looking at apartments - new and clean... and near beautiful parks... we'll find something.. we're on it 24/7. Thanks for your caring comments... you are wonderful friends. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteHi A-M,

ReplyDeleteHang in there A-M! You'll make it. What a relief to be out of that horrible rental. Tomorrow will be better.

ReplyDeleteSending love your way A-M, I hope you get better soon and you solve your rental problems!!! xx
ReplyDeleteYour son is mature beyond his years :-) When things get you down, remember what he said :-)
ReplyDeleteThat being said, so sorry to hear about all your recent troubles :-( That seems to be how it goes -- one bad thing happens, then another and another..... but I'm sure good things are on their way soon :-)
I was so excited to see the copy of Home Beautiful in my mailbox today :-) Thank you so much, A-M :-) Sorry about the crazy postage on it, though -- yikes!! I looked through the article quickly (had to walk the dogs before it rained!!), but I'll be reading it thoroughly from first word to last later today or tomorrow. Can't wait!!
Sending positive vibes your way....
Kelly
As the saying goes, everything happens for a reason!!?? Though I don't know about the lungs, but maybe lifes saying sloow dooown!? As for the house, we had a collection of catastrophies and then the clouds opened and the sun shone and we realized if a,b,c & d hadn't happened we wouldn't be where we are now, so sometimes it is all for the best!! Hold on tight!
ReplyDeleteHi dear girl, what a rough trot you are going through - remember my blog post about nicking off to that teepee in Nimbin? LETS GO!! feel like it anyway! Your health is a real priority so like someone else said call in those favours, do whatever you have to. I wonder if there is a website where you could house sit some wonderful house until you work out what you are doing next?
ReplyDeleteworth a think maybe? Mel xxx (yes sitting here on your blog instead of cleaning the house for inspections...and then work... )
It must be the week for issues...I am sure a little rain cloud is following me round this week! Firstly my daughter got smacked in the head at school right in the stitches that cost me $700 for the plastic surgeon to put in a few days before...you wouldn't believe the fallout at school! Then my husbands car chooses to brake down for the second time, last night...after I suggested he get it fixed a week prior, in our driveway, in front of my car! We then had two cars that we couldn't move because lo and behold the tank he drives is too heavy to push! There we are in the dark and it is cold enough to freeze bits off a brass monkey trying to push this massive beast into the garage and it was never going to happen! Thankfully after an hour the AA came to our rescue! Guess what his mission today is?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, I intend to!
P.S. I bought the magazine after stalking the rack for the last couple of weeks! Bits of your kitchen are even going to feature in my new kitchen....I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOh you poor thing A-M :( Hope a perfect rental comes up for you soon and that your health improves - sounds like you need to have a big rest this weekend - look after yourself :)
ReplyDeleteOh you poor love! I am so sorry things are a bit tricky for you at the mo, your health is the most important, so look after YOU! I hope a new shiny rental comes hurtling your way asap!
ReplyDeleteFlick :)
