And Here We Sit....

.. for the next week, at least. Piano exam is next Friday. I am so proud of him. He has practised and practised. He's smiling now. We were all a bit worried there a week ago....lost momentum with the move and our holiday..... but he has pulled out all stops this week and is sounding very 'Liberace'... lots of dynamics .... and yes, the piano takes up almost all our living area ... (I am surprised I didn't catch my feet in the photo!) ..... but no way was it going into storage.
Have a great weekend! We're off to the farmer's markets across the road.... after a piano practice of course. Sorry neighbours. It will all be over soon!

PS. His 'Dance Of The Hours', by Ponchielli, is sounding so pretty, it makes my heart sing. I'll see if I can manage to load up a recording to the bloggy for you to hear it. Best bet - youtube? Haven't done this sort of thing before. Have to share. It will make your heart sing too.

  1. Best of luck for his exam! And I create videos using PS Elements and then uploading them to blogger, you have to use the old format of blogger to post a video though. At least that's the only way I've found to do it.

I miss having a piano, I took lessons for years, and we sold our last house we left the piano because we had NO room for it here...maybe one day!

  5. Look at that posture, excellent!
My daughter (13) uploaded herself singing/guitar on youtube. It's very exciting when the number of "views" climbs. It's not hard to do and that's coming from someone who is very comp. challenged.

  10. What grade is he doing? I did up to Grade 6 AMEB yet cannot play a thing except badly executed exam pieces ;-) I don't think I could do an exam nowadays without taking a paper bag in with me to stop the hyperventilation. lol

  11. You have two fine boys! I read your earlier post about being a firm parent but also being cool. You've got it right! Kids need a lot of firm and a little bit of cool. I went to a lecture about raising boys by psychologist Michael Carr Greg and he says too many paretns these days are trying to be 'friends' with their kids and that basically, it doesn't work. I hope my boys turn out as well as yours. I too am so proud when they show good manners!

  12. Dear A-M, so impressed by your son's dedication, bless him, he must be very musical. Really, so impressed by his practicing like that. Really must try upload Boy 1 on his recorder, a real treat..amazing how much variation he gets in the same note, over and over.... actually i think the school music department confiscated his recorder a while ago, it's kinder in the long run..Bx
