Look Straight Ahead

We drove past her ('the house') yesterday, quite by mistake. I promise we weren't stalking. Hubby and I decided to spend the whole day together, went to lunch and then headed to Bunnings (as one does on a hot date.... for an item that was not related to house building, house painting or house fixing... it was so nice to walk past all those sections.... for now anyway!). It was 'automatic', our route, to the hardware store... before I knew it, there she was. I sort of miss her..... a bit..... looking after her. She looks the same, of course. Life moves on, doesn't it. It's all systems go in the street though. Richard on the corner has split his block and has just moved his house to one side so he can build another one next to it.... all very exciting. Waved to Terri as she drove past. Waved to my new builders, still working on a house at the end of the street. C'mon, move on A-M. Don't drive past again.

Of course you will do it again - we are all waiting for it. And you love it! I bet driving down your old street and seeing all the action going on, just got your blood pumping! I love the image you have posted today of your beautiful chair. Have a lovely day. :-)

Just one of those many moments in life when you think, "look straight ahead"..You must feel so proud whenever you see that beauty though..Rachaelxx

Driving by once in a while isn't a bad thing A-M. At least you weren't reduced to tears or were caught marching up to the front door to say 'hi'! Good for you, doesn't that make you excited for the next "house"?

XO,
Andrea

I know that feeling - I have "walked" past our little London house (shoe-box really) on Google earth just to see how my box hedge is and have they changed the front window blinds!!!?

I posted a few pics of Auckland villas yesterday which might distract you - thought of you and your research when I did - I think you should have a weekend here for note-taking for the new house! Those builders way back when were so good on architectural detail... Ann x

It will be way to hard not to be a little excited and I think your car will get a mind of its own and take you passed no matter where your heading....have a great day...love that chair image.

It is a deal....I must confess I still stalk houses I have built over the years even from afar! It's all part of life,
alright.

Ah yes - I find my car automatically will drive down certain streets to look at houses I have lived in or built - it is sort of nice to know exactly how all the rooms are laid out inside! Maybe while you have no house to build you can move into this brief world of parties that I have found myself in - mind boggling really isn't it! Leanne xx

Very brave A-M! I don't think I could do it, but the 2 houses (yes, only 2) I have lived in for extended periods have both been demolished. I have been known to drive by (in the real or via google earth) old friends' houses, though!

It must be difficult...one of those "I want to look, I don't want to look" situations :)
It will be better once your next project is underway.

I drive past my old house every day - mainly because it is enroute to work and there is no other way to go! For the first year I used to (secretly) wish that a For Sale sign would suddenly appear and I would be able to go back and revisit it at an "Open House". (A legitimate excuse for stalking!) 14 years later and I am still waiting..... The desire to see what changes the new owners have made and how they have decorated it is still there. The fact that they are still living there however makes me happy because it means they must love it just as much as I did. (Still doesn't stop me looking for that FOR SALE sign though....) :)Sharyne

We drove past the house we sold in September last year (the house my husband and bought when we married and brought all of our 3 babies home to. The first thing I noticed was the Agapanthus lined front fence was weedy and many had died. I said to my husband, "Do they know how much those agapanthus cost?!?!"

Our best friends live very close to our beautiful old house, so we drive past it quite frequently. The current Owners were the next-door neighbours of my dear work colleague Mr. D, so I hear everything about what they are doing to it now. Yes, Adelaide is just a big country town! They love it & are very happy there, so I couldn't ask for more. Don't feel guilty about driving past A-M, you invested so much of yourself into that house, you're entitled to do the occasional drive-by drool.
