A Good Excuse For An Office Day

Oh dear, I have never seen so much rain (over on Faux Fuchsia's side of town, she is building an ark). Our dams are full and they are letting water out of them... and we are still on water restrictions... and paying for the stuff. The tin drum outside our window is actually easier to listen to when it is raining cats and dogs.

Right, so there is no excuse for me today NOT to catch up on the monstrous pile of paperwork in my in-tray. Hubby is installing a new office computer system and had a big office tidy up on the weekend. Everything in the too hard basket, landed in my in-tray. I tried every 'in-tray avoidance tactic' over the weekend... hence all the ironing is done, toilets are clean.. I even did some baking... and found myself watching movies! (I can never sit still to watch a movie, unless I am forced to in a cinema).

Even my excuse, of not having an office, is wearing thin.... I mean look at this beautiful workspace Martha threw together in a dining space.... no more excuses. I am going to sit in this beautiful rain and work today. But first... a coffee!

  1. This rain is like nothing I have seen before in Brisbane. We are thinking of getting another water tank. We must be on the same wave length this week. I too desperately need a desk and am of to try and buy a little hutch today. And I too find it hard to sit still and watch a movie unless at the cinema. Enjoy the coffee, time for a tea for me. ;-)

  2. Sounds like a great idea. Its funny how constant rain changes ones way of thinking what to do ? We have a rule on Sundays for the kids 'no tv' but yesterday afternoon on went the dvd of The Sound Of Music. Much to my husbands grief (he cannot stand that movie) 10 minutes into it he drifted off on the lounge into a nanna nap. So it was a win win situation for everyone !

  4. What I want to know is - what did you bake?! Are all the lovely food bloggies getting to you A-M..? Knew you could do it.. Meanwhile, our dams are only at 40% and that's apparently very good! I guess they were at 25% this time last year..Rachaelxx

  6. Dear Ms A-M, Do you recall the poem which starts off 'We'll all be rooned said Hanrahan...' - we are all lectured about the drought etc as if we will never see rain again and then the heavens open and we wonder when it will stop. No rain here but it is, pardon the pun, chilly. We are at the beach and it is definitely stay inside and watch the fire weather. Tomorrow, when we go home, I'll have exhausted all excuses and have to deal with the filing. I have been doing it in a desultory fashion while watching some history DVDs I got at the Smithsonian a few weeks ago. But I am so watching and waiting for anything to distract me from this boring task...

  7. Oh yes, we finished off our trip home with a stay in Queensland on the coast south of the Gold Coast. Well, rain? OMIGOD, it puts NZ to shame! I am flying back to Auckland for better weather and never thought I'd say that!!! We were the only ones in the pool of course... two boys... the things we do...

  9. Good Morning A-M,
My neighbour just text me to tell me I have the pool of my dreams due to all the rain....only problem is we haven't actually started building it yet!
Am using this rain as an opportunity to check for any hidden drainage problems before we build!
Have a lovely day and stay dry!!
