Organised

How's this for a super organised medicine kit! Oh to have the space to even be able to spread it all out like that. It's Martha's of course. If you want to sneak a peek at the contents of her kitchen drawers, head over HERE to check out her top kitchen tips and practical storage solutions. If you're a 'declutterer' and organiser like me, you'll be in heaven. Although the number of spatulas she has? I know, commercial kitchen and all..... tell me what you think. I'd be itching to cull some more!

  1. Her organization skills are always inspiring, I love Martha! :0) Come by and meet little Sophie, she's 1 month old today!

  2. Hi AM, Thanks for your comments about the piano lessons - good advice! In regard to Martha, I wonder if that really is her kitchen? It all looks way to 'staged' to me. In reality I am sure we all try to have nice neat draws but family life soon alters that. My husband calls me OCD but I am definitely far from that compared to some of my friends. The closest I have come to Martha's kitchen organisation was grabbing a chinese takeaway tub from my tupperware draw to place all the stray batteries, in the actual draw. I was sick of trying to find them and always buying new ones when I knew we had them somewhere in that messy draw - which is now clean (this week anyway!).

  3. It's so great, but totally impractical. Who would leave a cup of whatever those little red-and-blue tablets are lying around? My luck they'd tip over and I'd never find them all! I love the inspiration, though. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Sorry ... but what's with the tablets OUT of their packaging? And wouldn't your cotton buds get all festy being out of their container? Ew! I'd be a bit worried about getting some first aid at Martha's place just in case I was given a suppository to swallow ;-)

  5. Oh you girls make me laugh. Loving the detail you pounce on! I suppose the tablets are out of their pack for maximum aesthetic effect... I mean they are colourful and pretty! In our humidity here, they would all melt together in one sticky mess! A-M xx

  6. Ha ha, I noticed the pills out of their packet too! Being a mother of young children it gave me a fright! I do love her kitchens though..I don't think I'd change a thing..Rachaelxx

  7. Oh, A-M, thanks for this post. The organisational, Virgo control-freak in me adored it but the rational, pragmatic mother of the pixies just sniggered. Martha must live alone. Even trying to keep one drawer in such serene order on Planet Baby with the pixies about would be too tall an order for me! Good luck to her but it's just impractical on this planet! J x

  8. Oh Lord she's organised but I have fallen fully and fatally in LOVE with those shelves... the bird's beak apparently. So much so I just wrote a post on it. Not much really annoys me but those holes in adjustable shelves really do... so thank you, thank you for sending me Martha....! And it was good for a little laugh too... I was trying to imagine instructing my boys to put the sticky tape back EXACTLY where they got it from! A x

  9. Oh I know Ann, those bird's beak shelving thingys.. I was almost going to do a whole post on them too and then I got distracted by the medicine drawer! A-M xx

  10. I guess I am not worried by the practicalities of actually finding a carpenter. There will be a dream carpenter too of course! And that medicine cabinet is diverting - to say the least!

  11. I am not good in organizing things but it always amazes me how people like Martha can make it look so easy...
really inspiring, but I bet she comes up with the idea and there are lots of hands willing to do those things for her.

  12. There are some good ideas. Yes, she does 'apparently' have a *lot* of everything - how many fruit reamers can one woman use at any one time?!!

I'm a big fan of drawers as opposed to floor cupboards - better to look *in* from above that be peering into the back of a dark [cluttered] cavern on your hands and knees. Her medicine drawer made me think of using those honeycomb drawer organisers for bits that move around and get cluttered together. They're pretty squishable, so maybe more space efficient than separate little containers (??).

I have a very old kitchen and through necessity I have open shelving. Unless you do use the items on them ALL the time they collect dust and grime *very* quickly indeed. They're one of those things that look nice but ultimately cause quite a bit more work.

One thing made me snort - the bit about the cats' buffet. Ha!

"Several dishes are lined up in a long tray, which catches any spills so food doesn't end up on the floor."

Oh if only...Not my cats! Dishes are a convenient receptacle from which to drag food and spread it liberally around! :D

  13. It certainly looks gorgeous but I would need about 7 drawers to contain everything in my medicine drawer - maybe it means I need to cull! Happy weekend! Tracey xx

  14. I had such a funny reaction to Martha HQ - so many good ideas and kitchen eye candy, but I do find that level of perfection and impeccable order slightly unnerving, looks more like a really expensive photo-shoot or kitchen shop, not a home. Probably because it WAS a really expensive photo-shoot but taken as a whole it is so unattainable and intimidating as a real-life blue-print - yikes!! Sometimes this level of perfect presentation and order can feel so micro-managed it is a little suffocating to me. It would take a team of staff to maintain if kids were allowed in there! Then again, maybe I am just a green-eyed monster making excuses to feel better! V interesting pics to see, so thanks!xx

  15. Hi A-M,

I wanna know how Martha managed to get those surgery 'dishes' to put all of her medical things in???!!! I think Miss Martha has the most devine taste but on her t.v. show I think she comes across cold and quite rude to the guests that she has on.....just sayin'

  16. Lol as soon as I saw the picture I knew it was Martha's. It is very similar to her craft drawers. What an amazingly orgainised woman. But not really practical for the everyday family.
