Don't Even Look

Instructions to big brother on lizard tank this morning... I love him... he's so spirited and fierce.

It is now a race to get to the stick insect containers first thing in the morning to see if any have hatched. Little one is most indignant if big brother gets there first and "ruins the surprise".... hence the note.

'Frank', the first hatchling, was released 'into the wild' (the herb garden) as his leg was accidentally broken, when it was caught in the rubber band keeping the chux cloth on the top of the container.

Thank goodness 'Steve' hatched almost immediately, to take the focus off the impending death of 'Frank' in the herb garden. Thanks to Deb (sorry Deb, he calls you 'the blog stick insect lady').....we have the gift that keeps on giving..... a few squabbles....and never a dull moment!

  4. I am laughing A-M, not only at the gorgeous note that even looks like it has been penned in fury and also laughing about poor old Frank and the dreaded leg in the rubber band accident but mostly the fact that Deb is called 'the blog stick insect lady' hehehehehehe!!!

  5. Oh no, what have we done. We have unleashed a monster! So sorry. But I am laughing my head off at the very serious Super Mario Bros threat.

  6. Isn't that hilarious! I love the threat too, those are some serious words. Imagine the heart ache having to get to the same level on super Mario before you saved the file! Let there be peace in stick insect world. ;-)

  8. RIP Frank. Your life was short but you were loved.
I'm imagining the gasps of horror when the rubber band made contact with Frank's leg!
Now this may be a totally useless suggestion but what about using soft girly ponytail bands to lessen the threat of death by harsh rubber band?
And if you lash out with bright colours the insects can enjoy a version of insect interior design.

  10. Love the note....simple but effective.
These are the sorts of notes I would like to leave my Hubby right after I have finished cleaning the wood floors.

  11. This reminds me of my brother (when I was little, I hasten to add...) used to say, "Don't say .." (fill in the blank)....."and don't even think it."

And then, of couse, I thought 'it'...and bore the inevitable consequences!!!

I see times have not changed with sibling love!! This note is SO adorable!

You may like to know I get on very well with the brother now!

    There's hope...

  12. SO funny A-M. I have a memory box that is bursting at the seams with handwritten notes, cards etc. Young one will have a chuckle over this one when he's older. x

  14. What a classic! I love it. The intensity is perfect, the message clear and the consequences reasonable, but devastating!

  17. 'Do not!!! ...or look at them...' So cute. I also have to smile at the names you give your pets: Nigel and Brian and now Frank and Steve. (I just thought, wouldn't Nigel and Brian eat Frank and Steve, given half a chance? ...House guests eating house guests...interesting thought)! ;)

  18. It's a great way to see what is going on between siblings when they leave these notes. Sometimes you think "gosh, child A was a bit off towards child D today" then you walk past a note plastered to their door saying "child D STAY OUTTTTT" & you know something is going down. Love Posie

  19. Gosh, it's all happening at your house! I just love that note :)

  21. Too funny!
I keep postponing the idea about adopting a hamster here at home! I keep saying: we don't have room, or they will be cat's dinner, they are noisy at night, they poop, etc...etc... the kids can't take it anymore!

  22. Brilliant stuff! Or should that be (!!!) ? !!!

My 6 yo leaves notes around for her 5yo sister - a simple number 5 in a circle with the red line through it.

    V. effective.

  23. We were camping recently and my husband showed me we had the biggest stick insect on the outside of our tent we have ever seen. It must have been 30 cm tall.
