Silly me... I never thought you could cuddle a praying mantis. I just love that letter... those boys of yours are too gorgeous - although I won't be mentioning the whole cuddling insects thing to mine if that's ok.... you know how squeamish I am about scales? It sort of applies to bugs too! A x
I think it so special he loved a praying mantis. What an animal lover you have. His hand writing and sentiments so sweet. You'll have to put this letter in the keepsake box. It's a gem! Sonia
R.I.P. Wobles!...as sad as it is for your little boys...I'm trying not to laugh at your description of his untimely death. However I remember breaking my heart, as a little girl, over a guinea pig that ate it's waxed cardboard box and choked to death! Have a lovely Christmas with your boys. Robx
I can't say I'm a fan of praying mantises, but that perfectly executed note left even me feeling a pang of sorrow at the loss of a loved pet. That's the sad thing about the food chain I guess :o( Angex
Oh dear poor Wobbles...sympathy to your gorgeous boys..how thoughtless of Brian and Nigel....so glad that you are posting again...positive thoughts and big hugs to you. Kym XOX
What a beautiful note from your boy, for the much loved pet insect. Have been thinking of you, good luck this Christmas, sure you have tonnes on your mind, so here's to lightening your load & enjoying the sunshine. Love Posie
Ummm.. not sure who was exactly what.. but from your comments I'm gathering Wobles was a praying mantis (??) and Brian and Nigel are...lizards? or cats? I'm relatively new here, so bare with me...lol..
In any event, I'm sorry for your loss, that had to be difficult to watch.
In Australia I had a robust friend - a country girl, who interrupted my commiserations when her boys were mourning their parrot by saying firmly, "that's what pets are FOR." They are tough in the Outback.
Kristian's Memorial Service for his Praying Mantis last night was so beautiful. We lit a candle in the herb garden, made a little cross out of toothpicks and lay a little note in the garden saying that it was in memory of 'Wobles'. Kristian read out his note, crying his little heart out. Brynley wrapped his arm around him and Kristian lay his head on Brynley's chest while he cried. In the candle light, with the last rays of the sun behind them, it was a scene that took my breath away... their innocence, their love for each other, their compassion, Kristian's pure grief. I have it burned into my memory forever.
That is the sweetest thing I have ever read. Be strong boys, Wobles has gone to Mantis heaven where they have the most amazing branches for him to woble on =0) Huge hugs for you both. Ness xx
Eeek! Poor Wobles! And to think you were worried about poor Brian meeting his demise!
I'm sure Wobles knows how much he was loved and how much he's being missed. He's the luckiest Praying Mantis ever to have had such a loving & caring home :-)
This is where I muse about home design, interiors, my life, my boys and stuff that sort of stops my heart. I have an online store full of my favourite Hamptons style lighting over at www.capecoddesigns.com.au ... and ... I'm currently planning my next house build.
Oh dear me! Please know I am so very sorry for your loss, boys. Be strong, it's what Wobles would want.
