Found some video footage of my suburb on YouTube. The street videoed is 2 streets down from mine. It runs parallel to the river. I walk it every morning. At 48 seconds into the video they pass a little yellow shop on the left, our corner store. My heart is broken for West End. I love West End. I don't think I can ever leave it now. After this. I don't have a kayak so I hope I will be able to get over the river somehow tomorrow if the river goes down enough to check out our place.
Click HERE to see an eerily quiet West End.

PS Ooh and here's another one which shows a shot of the corner store near the end :(

It's so hard to make sense of all this.My thoughts are with you and your boys..xx
It is so horrible seeing so many if the Brisbane streets like this, and yet I find it hard to tear myself away from the footage. Rosalie is just down the road from my place and it was underwater. The prep classrooms at my kids's old school were completely submerged - imagine the clean up?! - as were the shops where I have spent so much money. Then I saw the house we once thought about buying underwater too. So so grateful we are dry and safe. So amazed by the footage. So heartbroken by the stories from the Lockyer Valley.
Much love

Oh, Sweetheart! It's all so surreal. Never have I found that word more appropriate. You and your gorgeous boys never leave my thoughts. Stay safe, my dear friend. J x
Please take the utmost care of yourself if you go venturing out. Are you keeping a diary through this crisis, would it help....
Thinking of you.x
Hi,
Glad that you and your boys are ok, I thought of you when I heard West End was going under. I spent yesterday morning in Auchenflower helping my sis in law and neighbours move furniture into their roof spaces and evacuate. It was very surreal.
My heart aches for Brisbane and all the families affected.

Dear A-M,
I have been watching the news all day, so unbelievable to see what has happened and then what will be involved in the aftermath of the water dropping.
Please please be careful if you venture out into the water and your home, there is still so much danger out there and you are far too precious for your boys.

This footage is devastating. My heart hurts for all of you. I can't imagine what people are going through. I am praying for all. Stay strong. Be safe.
Very surreal to see - so many properties and therefore lives affected and yet it's all so eerily quiet in this.
That's awful. I hope your place has not sustained too much damage. I guess the only solace you can take from this awful situation, is that you and your loved ones are safe. Chin up. Lx
Still thinking of you, just saw the block of units we used to live in.....surreal, and the corner shop which was across the road from us. Sending love from Sydney, Lorraine
ps, i assume you can identify which Lorraine it is when you read the comments!
am, i am so so sorry. I keep thinking of you and checking to see if you have given an update. Its just so hard to believe. My little seb just watched some of the footage with me and I explained to him about your boys and how they are the same age (as him and his older brother) and he hugged me. I explained how everything is gone and he wants to give your boys his wii!! bless him! If i get your details at a later time when you have an address, i will post it from him! Hugs,
laura c xx
Unbelievable. Still hoping you find your stuff intact... especially the lizards.
I'm in America, but my cousin and uncle in Brisbane had to evacuate. Their houses seem to have been spared, but I feel so bad for everyone. It's so awful.
you will get through this xxxxxxxxx
I watched these videos with my daughter this morning , I feel so sad for everyone , all the losses and devastation, mostly the lives lost it is heart breaking , I you all can put your lives back together very soon , sounds like you have had a very rough go of everything I am not sure on what happened last year in your personal life but I wish you much healing ....it sounds like you all need some.
A-M, you don't know me but I was over at Kat's blog and I just had to stop by and give you a huge cyber hug!!! My heart goes out to you and your fellow Australians! Hang in there! Be well!
I am so sorry this is happening to you, I think the whole world is turned in your direction at the moment. I hope things won't be as bad as you dread when you get back home
Sharon
those videos are heartbreaking - everything crossed for you.
Please be safe, this is just awful! Our hearts and prayers are with you and all that are affected by this.
This is such terrible flooding! It reminds me of the photos/videos from Karina here in the States. I'm so glad you and your boys are safe. My heart goes out to all Aussies hit by this terrible flooding.
Thank you for sharing this amazing footage! I'm praying that it was just your carpark that took the brunt of the flooding...hoping all your things and most importantly the 'girls' still safe and dry...it could be!
Your lovely neighborhood will in time recover and heal and the community will be stronger as well...in time.

Unbelievable, I'm in Perth and watching all this on the news, my fellow Aussies suffering so much breaks my heart. Stay safe with your boys AM, don't take any chances, you have all that is truly precious right there with you now. xx
This is very hard to wrap my head around...the videos are surreal and sad at the same time.
Please be safe.
XO,
Jane
I'm so sorry you (and all the people of Brisbane) have to go through this tragedy. My prayers are with you today. I'm hoping for a miracle- that the lizards, chair and piano will survive this. God bless you, you poor girl! Difficult to make sense why so many things are so hard all at once.
Let's hope that there will be now lots of help and support from everywhere to make it your beautiful city again. You all will need a lot of energy and patience.
You are in my thoughts every day!
