Glad I Did

I am so glad I persisted with my run yesterday, despite the torrential rain at times, as look what greeted me at the start of it! The road workers and I confirmed that it was a sign that it was going to be a great day! I have never met an unhappy road worker.. there is something in that..... outdoors all day? laughing with mates?... rainbows.... conversations with strangers... I digress.

.... and if I had never strapped on the old faithful runners I would never have heard the beautiful bagpipe music this man was creating. I sat on a fence and listened (yep heart rate was not a priority yesterday)... feeling a bit sad that this is probably the only place he can play without being crucified by neighbours.... pretty nice place though... despite the rain.

....and if I didn't battle the rain (torrential at this stage), I would never have seen the grooviest combi van/camping car I have ever seen.

Check it out! I would have loved to have met them... but they were asleep.
I think.

Attention to detail.. sigh! Sort of felt like I was in Europe there for a second.

... and look who I ran in to when the sun came out. Hi James. He's still here a couple of days a week, despite there still being NO ferry terminal.

... and I finally met 'the running girl'! She runs past me (fast) every day while I am doing my 'Cliffy Young Shuffle'. We shout pleasantries to each other as she screams by. It was nice to talk at a standstill.

The sun came out.
It was a good day.

  4. the double rainbow is just beautiful!! I always find that when I want to put on my running shoes the least, I end up having the best time and notice more of the beautiful stuff around me. I have a "running girl" that I go past all the time too. Or, more like, she goes past me :)

  5. I love how you showcase our city - it makes me believe it's even cooler than it is. That camper van reminds me of a gypsy caravan. Enjoy the day. x

  7. James has a big smile on his face which is nice to see. I love the combi van, how cool! Perhaps they are traveling around Australia? Was that a little herb garden on the back, even solar lights? Very vintage/gypsy looking, what a life! ;-)

  10. I agree with Thea's sentiments exactly. That campervan is simply incredible, and dare I say the coolest I have ever seen! I'd love to know the story of the people who own it.
Love your rainbow too. When it was raining yesterday, my three year old said "Mum, maybe when it stops raining there will be a rainbow". I liked that thought very much.

  11. I am very impressed that you can pause and take photos. My chest is heaving when I run and my shots would be all wonky.
I am in the middle of c to 5. My next run in 20mins straight. Did you finish the program? Are you now running without it? I must confess, I am a little addicted to it.
I love that gypsy wagon, it is amazing. And isn't it funny to discover a group of fellow runners. I am now on nodding and breathy hello terms with a few from down by my river. Have a great day.

  12. Deb, yes finished C to 5. Changed my life. Never thought I could run. The need to be 'fierce' has helped. I needed something that would get me to 'spent' every morning.....energetic way to start the day.... although I am falling asleep in my broccoli at 6pm each night! A-M xx

  13. What a great combi! Isn't it great that on a mundane run you can discover many things that are not mundane!

  14. Such a great way to start the day - I do envy your ability to get up at the crack. I just can't! Thank you for your good wishes on our moving plans - I will channel 'A-M positivity' at all difficult points. A x

  15. You would never lose your car in a shopping centre car park if you had a modified van like that one. All you would need to do is find the crowds of people! I love the visual diary of your morning and am very impressed that it is broccoli you are falling asleep into instead of some fattening desert!

  17. That caravan is so quaint - I love to see who was travelling in it. Glad you are enjoying your morning running ritual x

  18. We call those Gypsy caravans as well. They sometimes have fairs here and stop at parks and sell crafts and do tarrot readings. With all the weight they must cost a fortune to put petrol in.

  19. Couldn't help noticing the Victorian number plates on the combi, I am impressed to think it has travelled all that way!
Sounds like a very fulfilling run A-M :o)
