Industrial

Ooh, these windows and doors.... they're wonderful. Look, they go right up above the staircase.

I think I might be going a bit 'industrial'.

I just love this room... the exposed brick.... even the fabulous stairs (and there's not one bit of wainscoting in sight!).

I would donate the chairs and table though (and doily), and throw in a beautiful stone island bench (to tie in with the sink surrounds) and a few of my rattan bar stools.... and maybe an oversized French wall clock on that brick wall... that would soften it up a bit.

'Provincial Industrial'.... what do you think!

  1. You are an early bird! Yes those windows are stunning...the room wouldn't have such impact without them...love your terminology..(donate)...hilarious! Robx

  2. Love the windows but would prefer them double glazed to keep out the summer heat and keep the winter warmth in!

I agree with the island too. I had one in my last house and really miss it in my current house.

  3. Yes, it would be interesting to marry the 2 styles. Are the exposed bricks painted? I really like that look. Have a lovely day. x

  13. I think some scandinavian chic is often the right blend of industrial/provincial - often have great windows and quite bare architectural lines with things like ticking and lots and lots of white.

  14. I often think scandinavian chic comprises this look quite well - often quite bare architectural lines with lots of white fabric and ticking. Its very clean but has soul.
Not sure Brisbane has the climate for this look though.

  15. Yes this home is lovely, especially the windows and the staircase. You are right to soften it though, or it could be a bit empty/cold. I still think you are a Hamptons/Cape cod girl at heart though. Have a look at my latest blog post and you will know then...(apologies if the terminology isnt correct, I am not as clued up on my wainscoting as you are, think you will like the homes tho and can maybe use some of the ideas in your next build :-)
