And The Planets Aligned

Look how beautiful it was here in Brisbane on Wednesday. It was a gooood day. Mild temperatures, gentle breeze. Positive outcomes.

I knew there was something in the air as soon as a few of my readers messaged me, saying that they felt I was going to find a place in which to live that very day!

I did! We're leaving West End...... and moving a little further out of the city... to live in a house and to enjoy some green space and lots of bike tracks.... while I look for some land and get the next house started. My boys are very happy with our decision. Little one was quietly whispering to me, as we were inspecting the new place, "please, please". Easy decision. He had me at "please".

In the meantime, we plan to seriously treasure our last few weeks here.

I am going to miss watching the sun come up over the river....

... and watching it set.

I am going to miss having my coffee on my deck....

... and feeling safe in my little 'concrete bunker' on rainy, stormy days.

I am going to miss the beautiful view....

... and the warming western sun in my kitchen.

I am going to miss my daily runs through all the little streets...

... and all the little daily surprises.

I am going to miss being able to ride into town for my errands.

I am going to miss Justine's coffee shop.... which became my morning office workspace.

Bye-bye Justine's Haloumi Special

I am going to miss Bill....

... and James.

West End, I have enjoyed you and I will carry my West End experiences (good, bad and seriously tragic) with me in my heart always. I am grateful to have called you home, even for a short time.

On the packing front, I do have this 'packing thing' mastered. It takes me no time to pack up a house these days! I think our poor piano finally will deserve a tune after this move. It will have been moved 7 times without a tune #howslackami. Big son informed me that it is a whole tone out now. It sounds woeful!

Righto, deep breaths. Time to start sorting, decluttering and packing.....aaaaand loving it!

Happy Friday!

Photobucket
P.S I have a teeny, tiny garden in my next place. Just teeny... but green! The boys have acres in which to play. Our place is in a green estate...that has a beautiful pool, lots of land on which to kick our soccer balls and kilometres of bike tracks. Nice change. Variety is the spice of life... and we're livin' it alright.

  2. Oh wow, sounds great but better - you know what you want. I think we should all have a darling boy at the end, to steal our heart & make those big 'please' & tug at our heart strings!!
Packing, yes, 7 houses in different states & territories in 15 years, with 4 children - um, is it wrong to blame "oh that awful toy i loathe but you love must have gone missing in the move"?? One more move A-M, onto our Canberra farm, bring it on!! Just as i was happy to dip down to 65 acres & a lower price (than the 100 acres we need) i have found 250+ acres with shearer's shed & cottage & can't get it out of my mine for potential. I feel so greedy to want such a large chunk of Australia as a back garden.
I can imagine this home building is addictive?? I'm going to find out, love Posie

  7. At times I view life in quirky ways but to my thinking...planning to get the piano tuned after this move speaks volumes. Stability and peace.
Leaving West End will be sad but exciting times lay ahead.

Life has obviously taken you all on a journey that not everyone takes, but for those of us who have....I know you are going to find a place of contentment and safety...

  21. Wowee!! Just think if we could all be there to lend a hand! I'm so happy for you and the boys.

Regarding the Universe message: It puts to mind the Joseph Campbell quote: “We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
YOU are the personification of this quote!

All the very best to you, A-M and your fine sons.

No doubt you will stop into your favourite haunts for the odd coffee/breakfast still.

  28. So you're going to North Lakes?! Eeek a bit bogan. Cheap as chips though. I'm sosorry you are having money problems. But an estate. From Paris to a bogan estate. Oh poor, AM. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry to disappoint 'Karen' but it's not North Lakes. That would be too far from the boy's school. Please don't feel sorry for me, I am delighted with our next move and the boys are joyous that they'll have some room to kick a ball. Life is rich, whether you live in a bogan estate (your words) or Paris! A-M xx

  30. Just out of interest 'Karen', isn't North Lakes near your ISP address at Deception Bay? Just curious. A-M xx

  33. This is not the first nor will it be the last time I feel the need to address a rather pointed and nasty comment directed to a blog friend.
Firstly to 'Karen Rogers' whose profile tells me she started her anonymous commenting back in October 2011, please do not be under the illusion that you cannot be tracked. Your ISP can be located, matters not if you are at home , using someone else's computer or writing nasties from a car enroute to goodness knows where. Pieces of a jigsaw can be put together when the absolute need arises. It's called detective investigation. Not to mention the written word is proof of slander.
Cyber bullying/harassment is a punishable offence and I am thoroughly fed up with pot shots taken at people I care about through any form of social media.
While I do not possess legal training I sure as hell can inquire about cyber bullying. Hiding behind a blank profile and leaving cryptic nonsense comments on social media is a truly low act.
And further more...what qualifications do you possess to possibly know A-M's financial position unless of course you do..know her?
    xx

  38. Totally agree with what Red Roses and Crystal said. Cyber bullying will get you no where.

  39. Karen Rogers, I cannot publish the disgraceful comment you have just left on my blog out of respect for my family and my readers. My life is none of your business. I do not have to tell anyone here in blogland the intimate details of my life. You are not sharing any of yours, hiding behind your anonymous ID. Weren't you Tanya last time? You are a coward. Your vitriolic statements are at polar odds to the truth about my circumstances.... about my husband, about my house sale, my finances and about my beautiful teenage son. How dare you bring my son into this. I do not have to justify how I live my life to you!!!!! Please stay away from my blog. If you need to spread venom, go elsewhere. This is not the place. I am sorry for your unhappiness and bitterness. I hope you can get some help. A-M xx

  43. Good luck for the move. I'm sure it's going to be fantastic for you and you'll have all of your happy memories from your time at the West End. Now you get to experience a different 'face' of Brisbane. I look forward to your blog posts from a different Brissy perspective :).

I love how you always find something positive in your day. I have been lurking for a while and find your posts always so uplifting.

Your boys are a credit to you as a wonderful mother. Enjoy your last few weeks in the 'West End'.

  45. Ahem...so, ignoring the above nastiness, I'm just updating myself after a blogging and blog reading hiatus!

Great to hear that you have found a new home. I don't even know where to find my ISP address, but if you do, and you can see where I live, are you moving anywhere near me?! If so, you really need to come over and give me some interior advice, right now I'm still too scared to do anything other than add random cushions!

  47. A-M What a lovely montage of memories. Just had to comment after re-reading some of this again today.
You know, I really admire your selflessness and the wonderful community lessons you are teaching your boys, particularly in relation to your friends, Bill and James. I have on occasion shown posts relating to your interactions to my own children, most recently your Christmas post and the gifts lovingly bestowed on Bill. To be honest it brought tears to my eyes (I'm a great big sook, I know!). I hope your new chapter in life is as inspiring and positive as always. Best wishes

  49. Karen Rogers - what an awful and tacky comment for you to make:(.
As an Interior Designer I have worked with clients who are very wealthy. But the classiest & least bogan woman I know is one of the least wealthy. She tells me her suburb is a bogan suburb. But all I see is a stunning, stylish woman in a beautiful home. A person is not about the suburb they live in. A truly classy woman like Audry Hepburn would not judge someone or look down their nose at someone because of the suburb they live in. That is the act of a tacky woman:(
A-M I think your suburb sounds wonderful. Boys need room to kick a ball, run and ride their bikes. I am a inner city gal too but we need to put our boys first. And once again you have shown what a wonderful and caring mother you are by considering what is best for your boys. Enjoy your new home lovely:)

  53. Hope you don't mind A-M but I realized in my comment of support for you and criticism of Karen Rogers, I revealed information about myself that I wouldn't want people like her to see just to be safe - so I deleted my comment! Still in full support of you blogging about what YOU want and revealing only what you wish to share of your life. I love your blog posts, they are positive!
