Monday Nook

Next time, I am looking at an entrance foyer, rather than a hall.
I rather like this sort of thing... with the staircase on the right. It was originally in the formation below, but I mirror imaged it. I love the little staircase window, the wainscoting..... and the transom leading to 'beyond'.

Are you like that? ... needing to mirror image things? I am definitely a 'right hand side' girl for almost everything. Is there something in that?

It's Monday again. Doesn't the week come around fast?
We are catching up with my brothers .... and all our little cousins today. It will be great. I always seriously live in the moment at these events as I don't see my gorgeous brothers and my darling nieces and nephews often enough. Everyone leads such busy lives.

Happy Monday!

  1. It's funny you say that.
I tend to like substantial things to the left......I always wondered why that was and thought it was just me!
    Have a Happy Day......

  4. How very odd. Looking at both versions of the pictures I had a noticable difference in my immediate response. I much prefer the top photo
    1st pic: Oo that's lovely
    2nd: That's ok.

  5. So funny how we all see things different! I like the second view best! Feels like it flows in that one. Guess that's why there is no one set way!

  6. Stunning. That really is incredible, I adore the first pic, I want to wander up the stairs, in the second, I want to go through the doorway.

  7. Yes a foyer is always very grand, the only trick is it can take up so much room that is really just dead room if you know what I mean. We have an entrance area in our place and although it looks nice it is really dead space at it serves no real function other than to look attractive. Sometimes I wish for an extra useable room instead. Have a fun day xxx Katherine

  8. I love the right side- it seems to feel better, but you'd need to consider which way the front door is hinged- do you want people to be able to see the stairs when the door first opens or not?? so many things to ponder on this gorgeous Brisbane day!

  9. That is so interesting about the right-left thing. I went back and studied the photos and compared and compared them and I couldn't see that one was any better than the other for me. It has never occurred to me to flip photos. I wonder what this means about yours/my personality or view of the world. Very interesting is all I can say.

  12. MamaBear,
that's interesting. In the first the stairway is inviting. I didn't even really take much notice the doorway. In the second picture I wanted to go and see what was through the doorway. even though my thought was that it would probably lead to a laundry or service area.

  14. Gorgeous, gorgeous. Interesting re left/right. I think I vaguely prefer left as well-but both photos gorgeous. Am very excited about your new place (selfish me!) as I am building heavily gabled home in Mel.bourne! So glad you found such a wonderful block. Wishing you and your boys peace as you plan the build.
