Tuesdays Are A Killer

Pop on over to 'A Welsh Girl In Australia' blog, HERE, to see a beautiful 'before and after' transformation. It features this gorgeous island bench..... which has now gone into my kitchen file!

Thank goodness for Beth's post this morning. Tuesday mornings are a killer for me..... with my late night orchestra rehearsal on Monday night and an early start for the boys on Tuesday mornings with guitar ensemble. Being an early to bed girl, and an early riser, my late night on Monday takes me a week to get over! Is anyone else out there feeling their age, like me? Hardest thing for me at the moment is reading music. My glasses prescription is for computer distance, not music stand distance. The music is hard enough without not being able to see it. A fellow violinist and I spent the time between takes last night, discussing contact lenses and those cheap pharmacy glasses. She had 3 pairs with her so I alternated between 2.5 and 3 all night! Felt quite motion sick at the end of it all... and added to that, who can get to sleep at midnight after scratching through Vaughan Williams' 'Sea Symphony' all night? Listen to it... it's a killer. HERE (skip the ad!)

There's a succinct little commentary about it HERE too. He's quite passionate about it all. It's catching!

So, I'm off to start my day, with the Sea Symphony swirling through my head. That's my soundtrack for today! Might have to do something fitting and grand!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Oh A-M, how beautiful that you have the talent & the opportunity to play such wonderful music. Most of us just can't do that ! Oh and that kitchen looks great. I love the idea of a black island. I'm v excited that you have a new house project in your hands.

  2. That is a truly lovely kitchen! It is so timeless just like the music you are lucky and talented enough to play. Rest up and enjoy your day.

  3. It's so hard to unwind when you've been concentrating so hard late at night. I can't imagine now how I ever played an indoor netball match that started at 9:45pm! Yes, 9:45pm!!! I'd be so wired for ages afterwards & then absolutely useless the next day from muscle pain & lack of sleep. As for the eyesight, mine's not that flash either. Have had glasses for year and a half but I think I will need a stronger script next time I see the optometrist :-(

  6. age and sleep are definitely closely linked!!! I realise this more and more as I reach the big 4-0 later this year.
heart-stopping island - again - thanks A-M... off to measure out the size I'd like mine.
But, this is the first time I've looked at a picture (your posted) and thought, gee, the lights are a letdown in that big space? Am I alone? Anyone? anyone?
I'd have something a little more grand or substantial....
Good luck getting through the day!!!

  7. I was standing in that kitchen on the weekend. The house is for sale just near me and I went to have a look to get some ideas for my kitchen - and because I thought it might be easier to buy that house already done than to do the reno's we have planned ;)

  9. I saw that kitchen online a couple of weeks ago (realestate stalking like you do) and thought of you after your comment about the black island cabinetry. The whole house is rather lovely! I just had a nanna nap whilst my youngest was sleeping and it made the world of difference- you should try it! K x

  13. Oh wow! I have bottomless respect for what you do every Monday night A-M. I can only imagine myself as part of that same orchestra, my strings and heart soaring as I hit the high notes. Ah to dream! What a soundtrack to your day :).

    A.
